YOGA IN CLASSROOMS

I am an IMPLEMENT Leader for Yoga 4 Classrooms.  I train educators on how to implement yoga into their day-day activities to help regulate the students' bodies and minds.

I love to teach children how to switch their mindset into positive thinking.  One thing I do at the end of the day is ask the children to think about one thing that made them happy.  Sometimes, they share it outloud so others can hear, and, other times, I just have them think about it to themselves.  I invite to sit with the happy feeling their moment caused them to have that day.  I remind them they can come back to that feeling whenever they need to feel happy.

I make interactive boards for classrooms.  The boards include a yoga pose, guided meditation, breathing activity and a calm music link.  The boards will be up on TPT soon, but, in the meantime, if you are one of the teachers in Avon, please do not hesitate to ask me to share it with you.  Enjoy!

The following video is a great way to calm your students' bodies and minds before teaching a new lesson.  Body Scan for Students

GUIDED IMAGERY is another great tool for the classroom.  Guided imagery helps to calm the students' minds and gives them an opportunity to visualize something you are learning in the classroom.  For example, I was teaching a class lesson on describing snowflakes.  I started the lesson with a guided imagery about snow.  I encouraged the students to rest their heads on the desk to be in a comfortable position. I played the following guided imagery as the students kept their eyes closed and listened. Guided Imagery Snow
Once it was over, the children opened their eyes and described their snowflakes.  We talked about how each person's snowflakes were different for others.  When you have a concept you are teaching, look up guided imagery+concept and see what comes up.  Try it out!
